A Russian poster for the Spanish Civil War supporting the insurgent forces: "Exterminate Facism! Long Live the National Front! Hands off the Spanish Republic!" Stylistically the poster is a bridge between the photomontage modernism of constructivist design and the exaggerated "unreality" of nascent social realism, via the introduction of cartoon images. As pure propaganda it is interesting to note how the workers and the militia are depicted as "real" and the enemy is a deformed caricature.
